However, you cannot raise funds for developing a product you want to pre-sell and ship after you have developed it.

You must first sign up as an Individual or a Nonprofit Organization. You choose a user ID and password. You will go through a 2-factor authentication using your mobile phone. We do not share or sell your mobile phone number. This method of authentication safeguards and prevents unauthorized access to your account. You will then receive a code in your mobile phone and an email with an activation link. Finally, you log into your account using your user ID and your password. The entire process takes only 1-2 minutes. It is that simple!

You have the option of not sharing your campaign with people you know. However, sharing it with them can make it more successful. When they support your campaign, they will help spread the word to others. You should not expect to receive support only from strangers.

Transaction Security, Withdrawal, and Fees

Yes. All transactions are conducted within a PCI compliant environment that virtually guarantees the highest security for each and every transaction using the latest encryption technology. Donations are safe, so are the funds you can withdraw at any time.

After you log into your Helpahand account, go to Profile < Payments and follow the easy instruction to create or activate a payment account with Stripe, the company that facilitates credit card transaction processing. That could be done within 2-3 minutes. It is that fast and easy!

Once your campaign starts receiving donations, you will be able to log into your Stripe account directly and schedule daily or weekly withdrawals at any point in time even before your campaign has reached or surpassed its goal. This entire process is simple and user friendly.

It will take about 2-5 business days until the funds become available to you.

Yes. You will want to do this if you have created the campaign for someone else. Within your Stripe account, click on your account’s name on the top left on the screen, select “New Account,” and create an account using the recipient’s personal and banking information. The recipient could open up a new bank account specifically for this purpose.

No. Creating and sharing your online fundraising campaign is free. But Helpahand will deduct a 5% fee automatically from each donation you receive. So, you will never need to worry about being billed or owing us Helpahand any money. A small transaction processing fee of 1.95% and 30 cents per transaction will also be deducted from each donation. No. There is NO cost to donors for any amount of donation.

No. There is no penalty of any sort because reaching your goal is not a requirement. With Helpahand, you keep each and every donation you receive.

Yes, for personal campaigns only. Simply select 'Add Offline Donation' inside your Helpahand account to add money you received offline to your campaign total. The offline donation will be marked as 'Offline Donation' on your campaign.

Of course. Donors can simply check a box to keep their donations hidden from public view. However, the Campaign Organizer will always know who the donor is.

We are unable to provide tax advice since every situation is different. As a general rule, in the U.S., a donation made with no expectation by the donor of anything in return is considered a “personal gift” and not subject to tax. Also, a donation made to a legally registered charity organization may be considered to be a tax-deductible donation. For specifics related to your situation, we suggest you seek the advice of a tax professional in your area.

Helpahand gives you the easy-to-use features to share your story with your family, friends, loved ones and community. Every Campaign Organizer should connect their Facebook account, use a high-quality campaign photo or video and clearly explain why they're raising money. Every Helpahand campaign is given a unique link that is easy to share with others (you can even customize this link). Sharing your fundraising campaign is easy using Helpahand's built-in features like email invitations and Facebook posting.

The best way to advertise your campaign is to share your campaign with your family and friends. You could also reach out to different media and journalists in your area to see if they will be willing to write up a story about your campaign. You could contact local TV and radio stations too. Often, these media outlets show interest because they want to do something good for the community and need an interesting story to fill the air.

Useful Features

Signing up with Facebook will automatically post your campaign on Facebook. If you do not do this when opening a user account with Helpahand, you can always choose for your campaign(s) to be posted to Facebook after creating it.

Sharing your campaign allows us to share your campaign on Facebook and Google.

Helpahand's 'Update' feature is a great way to add fresh information to your campaign. In doing so, you can choose to share the post with your current supporters and donors - you can even share the Update on Facebook to attract more support. Update messages can also include up to 3 photos or videos.

You can send a Thank-You note to a donor. They will appreciate it and keep you in mind.
